Harpreet Brar is no stranger to the limelight with impressive performances for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The all-rounder has also been a long-time member of Punjab cricket on the domestic circuit and is part of the squad in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In a video going viral on social media, Brar shared an incident with a 'fake fan' on Friday. A man said that he was a fan of the cricketer and in response, the all-rounder asked for his phone. However, Brar discovered that the person was not following him on social media. "I got a guy who told me, I am your fan. He gave me his phone & he is not even following me. This world is full of fake people," Brar said in the video
Punjab Kings player Harpreet Brar exposed a deceitful fan, saying, 'A man claimed to be my supporter and handed me his phone, but I found he wasn’t even following me. The world is full of pretenders.' The fans said, 'I have now started following you.' He responded, 'It’s of no use now.
Immediately after their exchange, the fan tapped the follow button, but Brar responded with another witty comment, saying, "It’s pointless now. Return the next day," when the fan asked for a selfie.
Prior to the upcoming Indian Premier League mini auction next month, Punjab Kings parted ways with Australian all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Hardie, as well as Indian domestic cricketers Kuldeep Sen and Vishnu Vinod.
Maxwell endured a disappointing IPL season this year, appearing in just seven games and managing only 48 runs along with four wickets, before a finger injury forced him out of the rest of the tournament. The experienced Australian all-rounder was later replaced by fellow countryman Mitchell Owen.
According to an IPL source, Hardie, who was acquired by Punjab Kings for Rs 1.25 crores during the auction, did not play any matches for the team and is among the players released before the mini auction scheduled in Abu Dhabi on December 16.
Right-arm fast bowler Sen and wicketkeeper-batter Vinod, who were part of the PBKS squad that lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final, did not play in any matches during the 2025 season. Sen, acquired by Punjab Kings for Rs 80 lakhs in the mega auction before IPL 2025, remained unused throughout the tournament.
Likewise, Vinod, who became part of the franchise before the previous season, was last active during the 2023 edition as a member of the Mumbai Indians squad.
