Delhi AQI Hazard

On 8 November, Delhi’s AQI reached a dangerous 653, triggering health warnings citywide.

What is AQI?
Air Quality Index (AQI) measures pollution. 0–50 is safe, 301+ is hazardous. Delhi today is far beyond safe limits.

Pollutant Levels
Particulate matter (PM2.5 & PM10) is at “hazardous” levels. These tiny particles can penetrate lungs and bloodstream.

Major Causes

Post-Diwali fireworks, crop-residue burning in nearby states, and heavy traffic combine with stagnant winter winds to trap pollution.

Who is Most at Risk
Kids, senior citizens, and those with respiratory or heart conditions are at highest risk of health complications.

Health Impacts
Exposure can cause coughing, wheezing, asthma attacks, heart strain, and long-term lung damage.

Immediate Precautions
Stay indoors, use N95 masks if outside, avoid strenuous outdoor activity, and keep windows closed.

Solutions
Solutions include: green transport, regional industrial dispersal, banning crop burning, stricter pollution enforcement, and expanding urban green cover.
