Forking out is no fun if you are not enjoying what you are doing. And if you are looking for some motivation, here are the influencers who will help you get in shape in a fun way, in a few seconds. Yes, you heard that right, fitness influencers on TikTok are using the platform to post snippets of their workouts to motivate people to start their respective fitness journeys.

Proving that discipline, focus and the right technique are needed to achieve your fitness goals, these TikTok users tell us how they are influencing more people to join the ‘Fit India Movement’ started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Holistic approach
From being a Kathak dancer to working as a Chartered Accountant and now choosing to be a yoga instructor, Urmi Pandya has done it all. She is reaching out to masses through TikTok. “More than reaching people and getting the tag of an influencer, I believe I am taking yoga to every youngster in the social media circuit,” says Urmi.

She points out that she has always liked doing yoga as it helped her calm down and kept her fit. “Yoga has great benefits, both mental and physical, and wellness is something that most people today lack and desperately seek,” she says.

Urmi posts videos that range from easy to complex yoga asanas. “I mainly put content that is easy to replicate. My favourite go-to asanas are Hanuman Asana, Pavan Asana and Chakra Asana which help in maintaining the health of the spine and ensure a good blood flow in the body,” she says.

She wants to influence people to take a more holistic approach towards fitness and health especially, as the means are easily available in our culture.

Being an influencer comes with responsibility. “There are over a million people who are following me, so I need to be thoughtful of what I am posting and see to it that they benefit from it,” says Urmi.
She points out that out of 10 people, even if four decide to follow her, it makes a huge difference because these few people will then influence others to get on track.

Stay focussed
Gunjan Taneja, who found solace in fitness, says that the beauty of being fit is that you want to motivate more people to get fit too. “My fitness journey started off with the simple agenda of losing weight, but the more I got into it, the more my life changed for the better, which is why I want to reach more and more people and bring about a positive change in their lives too,” says Gunjan.

She points out that she primarily focuses on home workouts for every woman who does not want to step out along with office workouts that can be done using a single chair. “Gymming has become an integral part of fitness but the problem is people randomly go to gyms without having a trainer or any idea about what they need to actually do. With the help of the videos that I upload, people can understand different exercise techniques,” says Gunjan.

One will find videos of encouragement, fitness routines, right ways to ace a particular gym workout like barbells, push-ups, pull-ups and many more on Gunjan’s account. “I want people to understand the power of determination to work towards their goal of a fit body and also help a few others along the way,” she says.

Gunjan also has a series of interactive videos where she discusses food, women’s health issues and how these can be tackled through exercise.
