Pune: A security guard was seriously injured in Bibvewadi after being attacked by two men he had previously reprimanded for creating a disturbance in front of a society.
The attack occurred at midnight in Ramyanagari Society while the guard was asleep. The two assailants fled but were later apprehended by the police.
Nathu Dinkar Surve (58), a resident of Papalvasti, Bibvewadi, was the guard who was attacked. The police have arrested Pratik Subhash Bibve (25) of Ghanatra Complex, Bibvewadi-Market Yard Road, and Kshitij Vinayak Jainak (21) of Navi Peth in connection with the attack.
Surve filed a complaint at Bibvewadi Police Station. Pratik works in a construction business office, while Kshitij is a college student.
Surve is a security guard at Ramyanagari Society and usually sleeps outside a shop in the society premises. A few days ago, Pratik and Kshitij were causing a disturbance while chatting with a friend in the society. Surve reprimanded them, asking them to keep the noise down.
The reprimand angered the two men. On Tuesday night, they attacked Surve with a sickle while he was asleep in front of a jewelry shop in the society premises.
They struck his head and hand, causing serious injuries, including a fractured hand and a severe head injury. The police arrested the accused after they fled the scene.
Meanwhile, in another incident reported at Sahakarnagar police station, a young man was severely injured while attempting to break up a fight between two individuals in Dhankawadi. The incident occurred on Monday in front of Gire Farsan at Teen Hatti Chowk.
The victim, Amol Ram Gaikwad (27), a resident of Dhankawadi, sustained a deep wound above his left eye, requiring four stitches. The police have registered a case against Ganesh Yelgunde, a resident of Sambhajinagar, Dhankawadi.
According to the police report, Gaikwad was dropping his friend Shubham Rawade home when they encountered Sagar Yenpure, Ganesh Yelgunde, and Prasad More, who were chatting nearby.
An argument ensued between Shubham and the group, leading to a heated exchange. Gaikwad intervened to defuse the situation, but Yelgunde confronted him, accusing him of targeting Sagar.
Yelgunde then grabbed Gaikwad by the neck, and during the scuffle, both fell to the ground. Yelgunde quickly got up, picked up a stone, and struck Gaikwad above his left eye, causing a serious injury.
