Baramati: Medical professionals demand 14-day lockdown amid rising cases

Baramati: The rapidly rising coronavirus cases toll in Baramati is a rising concern for all. Within three days, 297 new cases have been reported from Baramati taking the total over one thousand here.

Most estimates of the incubation period for the infection range from 1-14 days. Thus, medical professionals in Baramati demand to impose 14-day lockdown. Though technically it may be difficult to impose a strict 14-day lockdown, the administration may plan Janata Curfew in order to curtail the spread of infection.

89 new cases were reported on one day and within the span of three days it has gone up to 297. With testing has been increased in Baramati, a number of cases may go up in coming days.

Meanwhile, citizens are not following instructions about the use of masks while travelling. As a result, many such people are acting as super-spreaders of the contagion.

Covid-19 cases are on the rise in the tehsil area including the city as well. Medical professionals recently stated that adequate care is the key to affected patients regardless of the patient being a common man or from the elite class.

The insufficient preparation of ventilators in Baramati is also alarming here. Although 20 ventilators will be working in the next few days at Silver Jubilee Hospital, there is a shortage of ventilator beds for patients who are in critical condition today.

Meanwhile, Baramati has now total 1,198 COVID-19 cases with 44 fatalities reported till date. On the positive side, 556 patients have fully recovered.
