Mumbai: Health Minister of Maharashtra Rajesh Tope on Tuesday said that there will be no fresh lockdown in the state but some restrictions will be reimposed to keep a strict check on the rising of cases of COVID-19.
Talking to mediapersons, Tope informed, "There has been no decision yet on outline of another round of lockdown in Maharashtra. There will be no lockdown but some strict restrictions will be reimposed for a time to keep a check on the increasing number of COVID 19 cases.”
Maharashtra, being the worst hit state accounts for the maximum number of coronavirus cases and fatalities among states in the nation.
Tope said, the state government has also ramped up daily tests to rise the chances of detection. The Health Minister also said, "There are reports of people crowding public places and venturing without face masks. We appeal to people to regularly use mask and strictly following all measures of COVID-19. The ‘Unlock’ was started after people demanded to ease curbs but now people are seen violating the preventive measures, Tope added.
Maharashtra has seen a steady rise in new cases in the last one week, increasing the woes of the administration and powering talks of fresh curbs on public life as some states which already have imposed night curfews to curtail the spread of the novel virus.
