Overwhelming response for ‘Sakal Drawing Competition’

PUNE: There has been an overwhelming response from school children for the ‘Sakal Drawing Competition’ presented by PN Gadgil and Sons Ltd and powered by Lokmanya Multipurpose Co-operative Society Ltd. The competition will be held simultaneously in Maharashtra and Goa at around 2,000 centres on January 12, 2020. This is the 34th year of the competition.

The entry fee for the competition is Rs 10 per head. Participating students, their parents and schools can visit https://www.townscript.com and search ‘Sakal Chitrakala Spardha 2020’ (Sakal Drawing Competition 2020), where they can pay the entry fee.

If a contestant does not find the name of a particular school, they can register by entering the name of any school from their area. However, they should enter the correct mobile number and email address while registering. Moreover, they should keep the SMS they receive until the competition ends.

Over eight lakh students from both the states had participated last year.
The Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records have taken note of this massive competition as the ‘Biggest Drawing Competition’. This has taken the competition, which connects three generations, to a greater height.

Sakal initiates many such programmes for children as they are the future of our country. The media house also publishes ‘Sakal NIE’ and ‘Sakal Young Buzz’ for children. The ‘Sakal Drawing Competition’ is an important part of these efforts.

Students from Std I to Std X can participate in the contest. They will be divided into the following groups: Group A - Std I and II, Group B - Std III and IV, Group C - Std V to VII and Group D - Std VIII to X.

Drawing sheets will be provided by the organisers. Contestants are supposed to carry colours and other drawing material with them.

An exhibition of the winning paintings will be held after the declaration of results.
