Raj Thackeray’s drivers test positive for COVID-19

Two of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray’s drivers on Tuesday tested positive for COVID-19. Both of them are currently admitted and are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mumbai. Earlier, two security personnel working at Thackeray’s residence had also been tested positive for the virus. However, both the security personnel have entirely recovered from the infection.

Thackeray’s residence called ‘Krishnakunj’ is located at Shivaji Park area in Dadar which is currently a containment zone and one of the worst-hit parts of the city. 

The novel coronavirus has also spread to the Shivsena Bhavan after a senior party worker was tested positive for it. The entire building was sanitised after the news of the party worker broke out and the building has been ordered to remain closed to stop all operations for the coming eight days.

Prior to this incident, some police officers stationed outside Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s house ‘Matoshree’ had been tested positive after a nearby tea vendor got infected for COVID-19.

Maharashtra is the worst-hit state in the country with 1,35,796 confirmed cases till date. Hitherto, three senior members of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government – Dhananjay Munde, Ashok Chavan, Jitendra Awhad, have been tested positive for the virus and all three of them have recovered completely.
