Ghulam Nabi Azad offers to resign; wrong time, says Rahul Gandhi on letter by Congress leaders

Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad , who is facing attack from the party and other members for writing the letter has offered to resign on Monday. According to sources, he stated the offer to resign in the CWC meeting. "I will resign if found to be guilty of conspiring with the BJP," he has reportedly told at the meet. Azad is one of the members from the signatories of the dissent letter.

Meanwhile, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday raised objections to the letter which was written by as many as 23 leaders from the party and stated that it was the wrong time. On Sunday, 23 senior leaders wrote a letter to party president Sonia Gandhi on Sunday, asking her for ‘sweeping changes’ in the party.

During the CWC video-conference meeting on Monday, Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi asked CWC to relieve her of her duties and said that elect new party President. However, Former prime minister Manmohan Singh, requested her to lead the party.
