20 pc surge in vehicle reg likely this festive season
Pune: Like every year, this year too, the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) may see a surge in the vehicle registration on Marathi new year ‘Gudhi Padwa’ which will be celebrated on Sunday. According to RTO, there may be a 20 per cent increase in the registration of vehicles as compared to the last year.
According to officials of RTO, Pune they are expecting that more vehicles will be sold out this year. “If we see in the past two months - January and February - the registration of the vehicle has been increased. We are expecting that till Sunday, around 20-25 per cent will increase from the previous year,” said an official of the RTO.
Last year, the Pune RTO witnessed registration of 570 motorcycles and 31 four-wheelers. Vehicles registration sees a rise from Gudhi Padwa and continues for next two days. With 3,233 motorcycles and 1,036
four-wheelers registered, the RTO has collected Rs 9,43,26,930 in various taxes in the last three days.
“Last year, the sale of vehicles increased after the Supreme Court ordered ban on sale of vehicles of Bharat III from April 2017. Almost every vehicle which was Bharat III was sold during this period,” said the officer.
