Pune: The state home department on Monday declared a notification issuing the merger of Lonikand and Loni Kalbhor police stations in Pune police commissionerate. Earlier the two police stations were the part of Pune rural police commissionerate.
The proposal had been pending with the office of the Director-General of Police (DGP). Amitabh Gupta, the then Special Director General of Police in the Home Department who is currently the Pune Police Commissioner also scrutinised the proposals. The order was issued by the Home Department on Monday.
The police station will be integrated into the city police force from November 1 after completing the required staff and crime exchange process in the next 2 to 4 days.
At present, Loni Kalbhor police station comprises of ten senior officers, one senior police inspector, two police inspectors, four assistant police inspectors and four police sub-inspectors and 60 police personnel. The Lonikand police station has one police inspector, three assistant police inspectors, three police sub-inspectors, seven officers and 58 police personnel.
Now Lonikand police station will be placed under jurisdiction of Yerwada division under Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) area while Loni Kalbhor police station will be under the jurisdiction of Hadapsar division under Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5).
