I-T Dept Raids Four Onion Traders In Nashik District
PUNE: In order to keep tabs on the rising onion prices, the Income Tax (I-T) Department has raided 15 locations belonging to four onion traders in Nashik district. As per information, the traders have been accused of hoarding onions.
It is worthy to note that the prices of onions are again rising in the country and have crossed Rs 80 per kg in Pune.
According to onion traders, the I-T Department has raided four traders in Nashik. Those raided are linked to import and export trades of onion. The I-T raids are being carried out at multiple locations in Satana, Kalwan, Nashik, Pimpalgaon and Lasalgaon.
Owing to extensive rainfall in Maharashtra, most of the onion crop has been damaged.
Onion prices in the State reached Rs 80 to 90 per kg. At the same time, it reached Rs 100 kg in Delhi.
Onion prices have reached Rs 45 per kg in the wholesale market. However, there has been a slight reduction in the prices of onion in the domestic market. On the other hand, it is feared that onion prices will continue to fluctuate until December this year.
