Pune, 9th June 2026: Bhide Bridge will remain closed to vehicular traffic from midnight on June 9 until September 5 to facilitate the construction of a pedestrian bridge connecting Deccan Gymkhana Metro Station with Pune’s central peth areas.
Maha Metro is constructing the footbridge over the Mutha River, adjacent to Bhide Bridge, to provide easier access to Deccan Gymkhana Metro Station for residents, students, and daily commuters from Narayan Peth, Shaniwar Peth, Laxmi Road, and nearby localities.
Authorities said the closure has been implemented as a safety measure while construction work is underway. Maha Metro has received the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Pune Traffic Police for the temporary shutdown of the bridge.
During the closure period, motorists have been advised to use Lakdi Bridge, Balgandharva Bridge, and Z Bridge as alternate routes and cooperate with traffic arrangements.
The pedestrian bridge is part of Maha Metro’s efforts to improve connectivity between the Vanaz–Ramwadi Metro corridor and Pune’s densely populated central areas. Meanwhile, the pedestrian bridge linking Chhatrapati Sambhaji Udyan Metro Station to the city’s central peths has already been opened for public use.
