Pune: Jayant Rajput, husband of former corporator Nita Pardeshi-Rajput died of suicide in his office on Law College Road on Wednesday midnight. The reason behind his death is yet to be ascertained.

Police have registered a case at Deccan police station in this regard and investigation has been started. According to information received, Jayant Rajput resided at Khajina Vihir in Sadashiv Peth and his office is located at Kanchan Galli on Law College Road. He has a pharmaceutical company in Baramati.

Jayant reportedly hanged himself in the office at midnight on Wednesday. This was revealed when his son went to the office on Thursday morning. Jayant's son immediately informed the police. Deccan police rushed to the spot. The reason behind his suicide is still unclear. Sources say that financial loss during the lockdown period triggered Jayant to take this decision.

Jayant's wife Nita Pardeshi had last contested the municipal elections from the Congress party. She was elected as a corporator. She was also the Chairman of the standing committee of the Pune Municipal Corporation.
