Pune Unlock: PMC may allow reopening of private coaching classes from September 3

Pune: While lifting the restrictions imposed due to Covid-19 outbreak in the Unlock 4 phase in the city, the Pune Municipal Corporation is preparing to allow private coaching classes for medical, engineering and class 11 and class 12 students along with competitive examinations.

There will be strict restrictions on class owners and operators while conducting the classes. Health and safety of students, teachers and occupants of the class building will be a priority. The administration said that new regulations will be drawn up for this.

Last week, Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar had hinted that a positive decision would be taken to reopen private coaching classes. The Supreme Court has ordered the examination to be held, but the central government has made it is clear that the schools and colleges will not open until October. So there is confusion among parents and students.

Against this backdrop, the class teachers have demanded the reopening of private tuition classes as the exams will be held next year. Parents and students have also demanded the same. Accordingly, after the Ganeshotsav ends, that is from September 2 or 3, it may be decided to allow reopening of private coaching classes.

NO CONTAINMENT ZONES

Restrictions are imposed in the area of Pune city where the Covid-19 infection is increasing. These are called the affected areas or containment zones. According to PMC officials, Unlock 3 phase had about 66 such micro-containment zones. All transactions are open in these areas except for hotels. There will no longer be strict regulations in such micro containment zones as before. Also, there will be no containment zones.

Rubal Agarwal, Additional Municipal Commissioner of Pune Municipal Corporation said, “There will be new rules regarding transactions in Pune after reviewing the Covid-19 situation in the city. These new rules will be announced in the next two days.”
