Pune: Pune is among the worst-affected cities in the country and though the district in Maharashtra have reported fairly low cases compared to what the case was during months of June-August, authorities in the city are invigorating for a possible second wave of the novel virus in December.
Fearing a second possible wave in two months, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Mayor Murlidhar Mohol said that the city is ready to deal with the situation and affirmed that the current situation is in control.
"Last month, the Central government's team came to Pune. They gave us information that there is a possibility of a second wave of Coronavirus in December. I hope that such a situation does not occur but if it does, we are prepared," Mohol told ANI.
He added, "The current coronavirus situation in Pune city is in control. Our recovery rate is 93 per cent, doubling rate at 200 days and positivity rate is around 11-12 per cent.”
The fatality rate in March was 2.63 per cent. In May, it went to 4.62 per cent. The administration was successful to bring the back this rate to 1.81 per cent in July however, from the past three months the rate is between 2.41 to 2.49.
Over 1,60,374 cases were reported in the city while 1,50,360 patients are recovered and are discharged from various hospitals in the city. The positivity rate has also been curtailed to 12.2 per cent.
