Pune: Gagan Galaxy and Suvan Cresta societies from Bibwewadi, while Arihant Prathmesh and Unnati from Kondhwa stole the show for their respective areas as they stormed into the quarterfinals of the Sakal Society Cricket League 2019 presented by VTP Realty being played at the SP College Ground here on Saturday.
The day, however, belonged to Mayur Mankar of Shriniwas Greenland County ‘B’, Narhe as he hit his second century of SCL 2019 and went on to earn two ‘Man-of-the-match’ awards in a day—first to help his team qualify for the pre-quarterfinals through the final group match. Later in the day Mankar came up with a gritty unbeaten 43 to help Greenland County qualify for the quarterfinals.
In the first match Mankar scored 26-ball 107 with 2 fours and13 sixes helping his team put up 143 for 1 in the allotted 6 overs against Miami, Vadgaon Khurd.
Miami gave a brave response thanks to Sachin Kothawade’s 23-ball 88 with 2 fours and 12 sixes but in the losing cause.
Later in the pre-quarterfinal against Shivsagar City ‘C’, Sinhgad Road, Shriniwas Greenland County got them out for 68 and then chased the target losing just one wicket. Mayur’s (43*) was enough to help them win.
