‘I firmly believe in hardwork’

Over the years, MTV Roadies has remained one of the most popular TV shows for youngsters. The 17th season of India’s longest running adventure reality show is back and the celebrity leaders– Neha Dhupia, Prince Narula, Nikhil Chinappa and ring master Rannvijay Singh were recently in Pune for the auditions.

While interacting with ST, Prince who has also won MTV Roadies Season 12 said that Pune is one of their favourite cities when it comes to auditions. “We are always excited to come here. This time too, it was great. Those who come for the auditions are superstars,” he said.

He added that the latest season has lot new to offer, including the title. “This season, the show is MTV Roadies Revolution. There are lot of things happening in our country right now and there is lack of awareness about the same. For example, there are lot of people in our country who want to donate but don’t know how do so in the right manner. Through our show, we want to entertain people and also give out the right messages. We want to become the voice of the youth,” said the actor who recently won dance reality show Nach Baliye 8 with his wife Yuvika Chaudhary.

He said that contestants over the years have evolved a lot and many of them have a huge fan following. “Due to the concept of the show, the dedication of the team involved and channel, there is no denying that it enjoys a huge fan following, and so do the contestants. We, therefore want them to take forward the social messages,” he added.

Mentoring a young team is a huge responsibility and Prince said that he guides his gang by spending time with them. “Because I have come out of this show, I know what's life going to be before and after you’ve been on it. Youngsters participate in the show expecting to get acting work post it, but one has to struggle. I mentally prepare my contestants accordingly, you have to earn respect while participating in the show, which is most important,” he said, adding that post the show, he keeps in touch with the contestants. “If they need any help, I try helping them out,” he said.

In the past, we have seen celebrity leaders clashing on the show, but Princes said that off screen these things don’t effect their friendship. “We are usually together but while playing the game, we play for our individual teams. Like, once out of the stadium, Neha and I are brother and sister,” he shared.

Many call Prince the master of reality shows. He has won several of them including MTV Roadies, Bigg Boss 9 to Nach Baliya 9. How much of it can be credited to luck and how much towards his determination? He replied, “I don’t know about luck. I believe in luck when we do hardwork. Your luck will not work if you are sitting at home. I firmly believe in hardwork and when I sign up for a show, I give my 100 percent. I do not sleep but just keeping thinking about what can I do so that people like me.”
