Chandrasekaran paid his respects to the legendary industrialist and philanthropist, garlanding the statue of Ratan Tata, the man who steered the Tata Group into global prominence. Ratan Tata: The Visionary Leader Who Transformed Tata Group

Born into the Tata family founded by his great-grandfather Jamsetji Tata, Ratan Naval Tata studied architecture at Cornell University and returned to India in 1962 to join the Tata Group. Over the years, he played a pivotal role in transforming the group into a global conglomerate with a presence in various industries.

  • Global Expansion: Under Ratan Tata’s leadership, the Tata Group expanded into steel, automobiles, software, and telecommunications.

  • Chairmanship: He succeeded JRD Tata as Chairman of Tata Group in 1991, introducing organizational reforms such as setting retirement ages and promoting younger leaders to senior roles.

  • Landmark Acquisitions: Tata led landmark acquisitions, including Tetley Tea in 2000 and Land Rover from Ford in 2008, expanding the group’s international footprint.

  • Air India & Nano: He was instrumental in the Tata Group's acquisition of Air India in 2022 and the launch of the Tata Nano, a low-cost car aimed at democratizing personal transport.

  • Post-Tenure: After stepping down from active leadership, Tata became a prominent investor in Indian start-ups, supporting firms like Paytm, Ola Electric, and Urban Company.

Ratan Tata received numerous national and international honors, including the Padma Bhushan (2000) and Padma Vibhushan (2008). Other accolades include the Assam Baibhav (2021), Honorary Officer of the Order of Australia (2023), and an Honorary Doctor of Science from IIT Bombay (2008). Tata passed away on October 9 at the age of 86, leaving behind a legacy as chairman of the Ratan Tata Trust and Dorabji Tata Trust.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also remembered Ratan Tata as a visionary leader who not only built global businesses but also earned trust along the way.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tribute to the late industrialist, stating that he "reshaped Indian enterprise with integrity and compassion. From building indigenous industry to selfless philanthropy, he showed that true success lies in service to the nation. His legacy will inspire a self-reliant Bharat," Shah wrote on X.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also paid his respects, describing Ratan Tata as a leader whose values would inspire generations to come. "Fondly remembering Shri Ratan Tata Ji on his birth anniversary. A visionary industrialist and compassionate leader, he devoted his life to business excellence and philanthropy.....," Naidu wrote on X.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal also paid tribute to the former chairman of the Tata Group, highlighting the enduring influence of his leadership.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia remarked that Ratan Tata's life, characterized by integrity, humility, and compassion, as well as his dedication to philanthropy and nation-building, establishes a standard for ethical leadership.
