Mahaparinirvan Diwas 2025: This year marks the 69th anniversary of passing of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the champion of social justice and ardent fighter of caste based inequality. His death anniversary is celebrated as Mahaparinirvan Diwas every year.
Born on April 14, 1891, in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Ambedkar emerged as a leading voice against caste-based discrimination, which he saw as a major barrier to social and economic development. Throughout his life, he worked tirelessly for the upliftment of backward communities, especially Dalits, women, and labourers.
Ambedkar advocated for a reformed social order and implemented measures to empower marginalized groups, such as reservations in education and employment. He also founded the newspaper Mooknayak to raise awareness about social inequalities.
In 1923, he established the Bahishkrit Hitkarini Sabha, which campaigned for equal educational opportunities, economic upliftment, and the elimination of social discrimination.
He played a pivotal role in movements like the Mahad March in 1927, which challenged caste hierarchies and demanded access to public water, and the Kalaram Temple entry movement in 1930, advocating for the rights of Dalits to enter temples.
Dr. Ambedkar’s vision for a just society continues to inspire generations across India. His work laid the foundation for a more inclusive and equal nation, and his principles remain relevant in the ongoing fight against social inequality.
