‘I found a tattoo of another girl’s name on my boyfriend’s chest’

‘I found a tattoo of another girl’s name on my boyfriend’s chest’
Published on

I am seeing this guy for about a month now. We both have a common interest for tattoos. One day when I asked him about his tattoo after showing him mine (on my wrist), he said that his is a crown on his chest and could not show it to me at that point because we were in a public place. But earlier this week when we were alone in his apartment, I saw another girl’s name in the tattoo. He had obviously lied to me .

It’s funny how girls find men with tattoos so attractive till they see a name in there somewhere. Then it’s all so off-putting. Such a rookie mistake my dear not-so-innocent sparrow. Don’t you know that you should always check your partner for tattooed names before you get serious enough to get his tattooed on the canvas of your skin?
But this name could be anyone’s. What if the name is not a title of one of his sexual escapades, what if it’s his dead pet or parent, or for that matter, what if he got their name on him while they were still alive to show his — I don’t know where I was going with that sentence. What I mean is, I don’t know why anyone would tattoo an entire name on themselves. Even their own name. I remember how we’d write our names on our desks in school. Back then, it was considered a claim of sorts. But what good is it to write your name on your own body? Do you wake up every morning wondering where your body is and is it only when you find your name on the outside of your forearm that you let out a sigh of relief? Or are you so devoted to your parents that you need to show the world that you are their property? I really feel some people tattoo their mothers’ names as a complaint contact, like you have phone numbers at the back of a commercial vehicle that you need to call in case you find the driver driving rashly. And just like you must call the helpline number and inform them about their employee’s incompetence, you must get in touch with the face behind the calligraphy. Find out who the name belongs to. If it is a threat, well, you can’t really do much. I mean, if a man’s tattooed a girls name on his chest, you ought to step aside. But knowing you, as much as I can, from your frivolous question, you’ll be comparing geometrics with him in no time. At least have him refurbish his chest before you start inking around, wink.
