All things organic and desi

Starting today and until Monday, Puneites have another exciting exhibition to shop at — the Origin Hut’s ‘Safe Food, Safe Clothes Exhibition’ in Jnana Prabodhini Navnagar Vidyalaya in Nigdi.

The main attractions at the exhibition are organic food, khadi clothing, clay utensils and handicraft products, said Vijay Adhav, the founder of Origin Hut. Visitors at the exhibition can also purchase watches, mirrors, door hangings and other decorative items made from cow dung.

“We also have food items from the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, like pickles and papad,” he said adding that hand-spun and handwoven clothes made of indigenous cotton will be sold at the exhibition. Panchagavya, a concoction of cow urine, milk, dung, curd and ghee, will be available too.

Apart from products sold at over 15 stalls, the exhibition has also organised seminars for children on Vedic Math and abacus. “The gap that exhibitions expose is that there is no assured availability of organic food and food products, and genuine handicraft products once the event ends. After this exhibition, people can visit the website originhut.com to purchase these items online,” said Adhav.

The exhibition is organised by Nagpur- based digital platform Origin Hut with the support of Pune’s Annadata Safe Food Movement, Navyug Foundation and Jnana Prabodhini Navnagar Vidyalaya. Annadata is adding its expertise on safe food, which is food without toxic chemicals and grown in an non-exploitative manner.
