Power duo
Aarti Rele is a successful fashion designer and a graduate from Sophia college, Mumbai. She started her designer label Vismaya along with her daughter Jhelum in 2010.

Jhelum Dalvi is a graduate from ILS Law College Pune. She initially started her career as a lawyer and got a placement offer from AZB & Partners, one of India’s biggest law firms, where she worked for two years. Due to an immense interest in fashion, she started a multi-designer store with the leading couture designers in 2015 called Jhelum Fashion House in Pune.

Rele calls herself a disciplined and an extremely professional person. She serves as an inspiration to the new generation. “I come from a family of designers. My grandfather conducted the very first fashion show in our country for a US-based company — Sanforized in the 1930s,” she says Dalvi, adding that it’s the most inspiring story for her.

Pretty good business
Ratna Kulkarni is the owner of the Four Fountains de-stress Spa and Le Miroir Salon in Kothrud. She has been running this business for the last six years and is also a partner in Aspasia Management services LLP. This apart, she is also a financial advisor. “My Company — Money Mantra Financial Services — deals in Mutual Fund Distribution, Life Insurance and General Insurance. I strongly believe that all Indians should understand the power of equity and invest in the stock market to generate inflation-beating returns,” says Kulkarni.

Owning a business has given her the opportunity to explore her capabilities and a purpose to empower everyone around her. She considers herself as her biggest competitor and is in a race with herself. That keeps her motivated to achieve the goals she set for herself.

Being a part of the retail industry, she says it is her endeavour to deliver what she promises. Customer satisfaction is of utmost importance to her.

Kulkarni always looks at the larger picture than getting into the nitty-gritty of life. Her passion is to give the benefit of the knowledge she has to people. Her mother who managed their farm and inspired her to get into business, is her idol. She recently launched her brand Le Miroir Salon and will be giving franchisees in the future.
