Exotic vacations you can take from your couch for free to cure the lockdown blues

The confinements that the coronavirus lockdown has brought upon us is bound to make you feel claustrophobic. But who said you have to travel to escape to other destinations? Let the wanderlust in you explore some of the excellent live-stream webcams that allow you to (virtually) travel to wonderful places without you actually leaving your house.

As you sip to your cup of chai, watch these beautiful destinations from your cosy little home.

Venice, Italy

The favourite on the list is well known "Floating City". Peer out over Venice with a rolling setup of webcams around the city to get a glimpse of the city's most scenic areas. Take a look at the Rialto Bridge, St. Mark's Basin, and Campo Santa Maria Formosa, or watch the rolling camera switching between sites. Live shots also include classical music for an, especially transporting experience.

Grace Bay Beach, Turks and Caicos

While you're not going to be able to snorkel the coral reef off the Grace Bay Beach coastline, you can still marvel at the bright blue waters. Holding the position of World Travel Awards' World's Leading Beach Destination, this live stream will give you a little taste of laid back resort feeling as the webcam is mounted on Seven Stars Resort.

No matter which beach in the US is on your bucket list, you can probably sneak a virtual peek on HDOnTap to help satisfy your temporarily hampered wanderlust.

Malibu Beach Inn, California

The Malibu Beach Inn is a true heaven of California, situated on the Pacific Ocean. The hotel offers panoramic views of the ocean where they can spot one or two whales swimming by at any time. Though, its live webcam is pointed out directly from the lobby of the hotel; the view offers the beautiful scenery of Malibu beach.

Churchill, Manitoba, Canada

We all need a little zen right now, luckily for you, me, and everyone else, that's exactly what this live stream provides. If your time is right, you can see the northern lights on this live camera while you're in bed all cosy with your favourite music.

Yosemite Falls, California

The webcam provides a simple inspiring way for people to stay connected to the park and see the park's emblematic landscapes in real-time. The live stream of Yosemite Falls you are watching is North America's tallest waterfalls, covering 2,424 feet in total. While on the other webcams, you can take in to see the beautiful scenery of Half Dome, El Capitan, and the High Sierra.

Colosseum, Rome

More than six million tourists visit this remarkable destination in a year, which is today's one of the Seven Wonders of the World. While you can't see much of that famous architecture and history in the vicinity of this screen, you can take a look at the city with the webcam set up in a different area.

With Skyline Webcams, you can travel anywhere in the world, and see what's up to everyone. Take some time out of your day with a wide range of cameras placed around the globe and settle for some relaxing viewing.

Yellowstone Upper Geyser Basin and Old Faithful, US

Daydreaming over a Yellowstone trip? Don't be worried! With live streaming video of Old Faithful Geyser, wandering wildlife, and other geysers in the Upper Geyser Basin, you can be transported there instantly with a click. You will also see up-to-date forecasts of the next expected eruption.

Hvar island, Croatia

The east side of the Adriatic Sea may not be the first destination that comes to your mind, but this live stream gives you a real-time experience of the beautiful sound of crashing waves, ocean breezes and beaming sunshine. Stick around for Mediterranean architectural views shown time and around and the sunset should not be a miss.

Destin, Florida

One of the most popular beach destinations has been brought to a standstill. The live stream has an immaculately manicured beach, and deep-blue ocean view, ample of white sand and the tourists are minimal, so you'll feel the ultimate level of peace.

Riga, Latvia

The capital of Latvia is situated on the Baltic Sea at the mouth of the River Daugava. Considered a cultural centre from its art nouveau architecture to its Vanšu Bridge cable, if you watch at this live stream which features the waterfront town, you'll get a bit of history mixed with the modern times.

Statue of Liberty National Monument, New York

Visitors to the live stream can enjoy a panoramic view of the harbour. If that is not enough, you can watch Earthcam's 'Live from the Golden Torch' to take in the sights from the torch balcony at the Statue of Liberty and see unique, one-of-a-kind torch, and crown perspectives.

Elsewhere in the world, Earth cam is on display through a series of feeds that offer live looks at various city in the world, along with its scenic lakes and mountains to construction sites, colleges and universities.

Nice, France

Nice is one of France's few cities with beautiful beaches just at its doorstep. Usually, the South of France is swarming with visitors in the summer, but if you watch this live stream, as the name suggests, you'll be able to see a nice and beautiful wide-open coastline.
