We all want to have long and healthy hair like Rapunzel, don’t we? What if we tell you that we found someone who actually has beautiful and long hair like that? While everyone is using extensions to showcase long hair, this girl actually has long natural hair. Aliia Nasyrova recently took the internet by storm. With hair over seven-metre-long, Nasyrova began growing her hair 20 years ago, at the age of seven.
Nasyrova’s long locks have brought her plenty of attention. A native of Russia, the 27-year-old now resides in Latvia and has over 17,000 followers on Instagram.
When asked about people calling her real life Rapunzel, she says, “People can call me whatever they like. It’s their right. When they follow me on social media, it gives them the right to call me whatever they like.”
Speaking of where she began, she says, “My mother put a lot of strength, patience and love in looking after my hair since childhood. My hair is so heavy, I would compare it to the weight of my cat.”
She says her hair-care routine is very long. “I wash my hair once a week because washing hair everyday robs it of its natural moisture and makes it dry and damaged. It usually takes me 20 minutes to wash my hair,” she says, adding that managing her hair is not difficult anymore. “Managing my hair does not cause me any discomfort. I’ve had long hair since childhood and I’m used to the hair care routine. For me, it is just as necessary as washing my hands or brushing my teeth.”
Nasyrova says that she is against any kind of hair styling devices. “I do not use a hair dryer or any styling device as I feel it could damage my hair. So it takes about 24 hours to dry my hair. It takes about 40 minutes to just comb and braid my hair.
And yes, I do get split ends like everyone else does. I cut them every month to keep them healthy. It’s what people should do if they have split end problems.”
This modern-day Rapunzel says she uses several hair care products. “The hair care products I use depend upon the season and time of the year. Usually, I do not name any products because every person’s hair is of a different texture and different quality. Hence, what works for me, will not necessarily work for other people. You should use the products made for your hair type and those that suit your scalp.”
When asked how she feels about people asking her to model and becoming famous, she says, “I never wanted to become a model and becoming famous for my long hair was never my goal. It just started happening to me when I posted pictures online and people started appreciating my hair and sharing my pictures. My husband took those pictures. I did not get them done professionally in the beginning.”
Nasyrova is very humble and says, “I do not understand why people think having such long hair is something amazing. To be honest, my hair did not grow in one day. I just took good care of it. Other people can grow their hair as well but patience is the key. I was patient because I wanted long hair and was fascinated by fairy tales.”
Even though many may feel the need to compare Nasyrova’s hair to that of Xie Qiuping, who currently holds the Guinness record for the longest hair in the world at 8-feet long, for Nasyrova this isn’t a competition. “I don’t have a dream to feature in the Guinness Book of Records,” she says. Nasyrova loves her long hair, and even though it may seem easier to leave it straight, she creates different styles which can be seen on her Instagram page.
When asked about what advice she would give to girls who want long hair like hers, she says, “If I can have long hair, anyone can. It requires time, patience and attention. All the best to people who want to grow hair as long as mine or longer.”
