Polo GT TSI: A compact power-machine

Polo GT TSI: A compact power-machine

As our city spaces get crunched and parking space or even moving on the roads during peak hour traffic becomes a challenge day by day, many urban consumers in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru etc may be looking for a hatchback but a high end one, because the budget is not a problem. For such consumers, Volkswagen offers the Polo GT TSI. One can describe this as a power-packed compact machine that gives you the delight of moving smoothly on the roads with all the comforts of effortless driving!

Exteriors
Starting with the external look first, you may not even notice too much difference between the standard Polo and the Polo GT TSI. In terms of the external design, Polo standard has been eye-catching enough which one can sense in cities when one drives the car as an owner of one. The GT gives more range of colours and glossy shine to the body which adds to this element. There is no VW logo in the rear and in the front too, it focuses more on the GT branding rather than Polo. The external look gives you a subtle European feel which may suite the urban elite. The length is 3970mm, width is 1682 and height is 1453 mm, which makes this a super compact size for city parking spaces.

Interiors
It’s only when you step inside the cabin of the GT that you get the real sense of what assets this car has! The cabin looks plush with top quality interiors, heavy doors with bold door-handles and an impressive console that gives you everything that you could ask for in a high-end car of this segment.

The speedometer and RPM indicator have illuminated LED lighting. Particularly impressive is the shape of the steering which gives you a fine grip and makes road handling very comfortable even at high speeds.

The entertainment system has all the USB, SD card and Bluetooth connectivity that you would want and the audio speakers sound quite up to the mark. The air-conditioning has climate control function and seems pretty noiseless.

The single disappointment one could sense is with the car horn which seems very different from usual Volkswagen Polo/Vento standard horns. Particularly the car that we test-drove had a horn which seemed completely ineffective in the urban noisy road environment!

Power
The best part about the Polo GT TSI which will attract you to the car is its power. It has a 1.2L four cylinder engine which gives you amazing acceleration which is just unmatched by any other car in this segment. The car just zooms with this power. So on hilly roads or in a tight over-taking situation, you just start depending on this power and it makes the car feel very light. Maximum power output at 5000RPM is 105 PS. The car gives you options of “D” mode which is standard drive mode and “S” mode which is the sports mode.

In all, it’s an attractive proposition from VW for city dwellers who occasionally want to take the car out for highway or hilly road drives but mainly want to use the car for regular office commutes in tight spaces.
Polo GT TSI will definitely make you happy with all that it has to offer.
