Rashami Desai: ‘For the first time, I am very nervous’

After her stint on Bigg Boss 13, Rashami Desai has joined Colors’ popular weekend series — Naagin – Bhagya Ka Zehreela Khel. The actress’s entry as Shalaka promises to bring out some high voltage drama in the coming episodes. Soon, the show will take a one-year leap.

About her character, Rashami says, “Shalaka is an obedient bahu and loyal wife. My entry will bring in a major twist in my husband Dev’s (Vijayendra Kumeria) life, Parekh family, and Brinda’s (Nia Sharma) life. I hope my fans would like to see me as Naagin because I just love my new avatar.”

She adds that Shalaka is a sweet, innocent, understanding girl. “In some ways, she gets manipulated by Vish (Anita Hassanandani),” Rashami adds.

The series and its characters have already connected with the audience. Joining the show midway is a challenge, says the actress. “For the first time, I am very nervous playing this character. The show and the audience have already seen a lot of drama. With the changing plot and addition of a few characters, it does come to your mind if the audience will like you or not. But I have got a good response from my viewers,” says the Dil Se Dil Tak actress.

Gushing about her co-stars, Rashami says she has bonded well with them. “Nia is so much fun on the set and is a fabulous person. Even though we haven’t shot many scenes together, we have connected. She is a lovely co-actor,” says Rashami, adding, “Anita is n equally fabulous and beautiful person.”

As the discussion moves back to the controversial reality show Bigg Boss, which extended for a month owing to high TRPs, Rashami says that it took her some time to get back to her normal life.

But how was it facing the camera in a fictional show after Bigg Boss? “I am a director’s baby. I had no fears because I am being directed by Ranjan Singh, with whom I have worked before,” she says.

Telling us how her life changed are the show, which saw her getting embroiled in controversies, including her fights with Sidharth Shukla and her love life, the actor says, “It’s beautiful and great. But it has definitely changed after the show.”
