The recently launched show on Colors TV titled Roop — Mard Ka Naya Swaroop, is set to take a 12-year leap. The show revolved around an eight year old boy named Roop (played by Affan Khan), who dealt with the patriarchal norms of society. The channel has confirmed that Shashank Vyas, has been roped in to play the grown up Roop in the show.

The actor had made his television debut with Balika Vadhu, which aired on the same channel. Confirming the news, Shashank said, “I always choose the content that is out of my comfort zone and one that has a great message. The bold content and hard hitting concept is what got me excited. Gender stereotypes need to be spoken about in order to bring change and I’m glad that Colors and Rashmi Sharma Telefilms have made such an inspiring show. I’m honoured to be a part of it.”

In addition to this, Kritika Sharma will play Roop’s grown-up younger sister and Donal Bisht will be paired opposite Shashank. About her part, Donal said, “I am really excited to work in a show like Roop... because of its unique concept. One that brings out the conversation on an impending issue like gender stereotype. I strongly believe that be it a woman or man, everyone has a right to choose their own path without being judged. I am super excited for this new opportunity and I can’t wait to begin.”

The show also stars Yash Tonk, Mitali Nag and others.
