Time To Glow

Time To Glow

Use Dead sea salts
Natural glow is any day better than applying a lot of highlighter. Mohit Mathur, founder, Chauth and Nagsan Wellness, suggests to begin by washing off all the upper-level dirt with a cleanser. Then use a scrub to remove dead skin cells and deep penetrated dirt. The next step is to apply a mask that will ensure a clarified, detoxified, super smooth and glowing skin.

Mathur says that there are plenty of ingredients found in nature that are good for the skin. One of them is the Dead sea salt. Dead sea salts have more than 21 minerals, from calcium to strontium and magnesium to sodium. Each of these imparts its own quality to make it a super food for your skin and hair. “Dead sea salt is a natural exfoliator that helps in purifying pores, mitigating skin allergies like eczema or psoriasis, and fighting off pro-ageing free radicals,” Mathur informs.

He points out that Chauth and Nagsan has come up with seven skin and hair care products, each infused with either dead sea mud or dead sea salts. The mud mask is best for a super smooth, nourished and glowing skin, while their mud scrub is great for detoxification and toning of the face and even the body.

Talking about how can one use dead sea salts in their beauty regime, he explains that since these salts are completely natural, people can start off by using a cleansing face wash, followed by a face toner and then a nourishing day crème or they can include the salts in their facial cleanup.

The best part is that these salts can be used by both men and women. “Dead sea salts are good for all skin types, however, people with sensitive skin are advised to do a patch test or consult a dermatologist before using them,” Mathur points out.

Old is gold
Many of us were lucky to have our grandmother in the family in our growing up years who shared with us all the tricks that are beneficial for our skin. Indian beauty face packs are based on this grandmother’s wisdom and therefore are the best. Dr Nirupama Parwanda, dermatologist and founder, Zolie Skin Clinic, recommends these face packs. “The interesting fact is our grandmothers were not aware of the scientific reason behind using the ingredients but they were totally aware about how to use them in the best possible manner,” says Parwanda.

You can make face packs at home with fresh ingredients. Lemon, says she, has many beauty benefits, such as lightening dark spots on the skin, lightening the skin complexion, treating oily complexion.

“Honey is another ingredient that has many qualities needed for a glowing skin — it is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, moisturises the skin and is a natural anti-oxidant. “Milk is another good option because it hydrates and replenishes the skin, leaving it glowing and radiant. The lactic acid in milk works to gradually diminish skin pigmentation leading to a brighter complexion,” she says.

She believes that almonds should be added to the face pack because they are a rich source of Vitamin E which helps soften and nourish the skin.

Parwanda shares a few methods of face packs that you can make at home
