The first thing you notice about Ronita Sengupta is her confidence. The HR and Communication professional won the first runner-up title at Jeeo King and Queen’s Mrs India International 2019 contest held in Kolkata recently. She also received the Mrs Best Hair sub-title at the contest from Arbaaz Khan and Giorgia Andriani. The finalists were groomed by renowned fashion and entertainment industry experts, Dr Varun Katyal (wellness consultant), Liza Varma (pageant groomer), Shaine Soni (celebrity stylist) and Arun Yadav (celebrity fitness trainer).

“I was supposed to participate in Mrs Bharat Icon but couldn’t because of my travel plans. So one friend told me about Jeeo King and Queen and I realised that it would be a very big event with the participation of the likes of Liza Verma who has groomed Sushmita Sen, Jacqueline Fernandez, Manushi Chhillar among others. The jury members selected finalists from across the world,” says Sengupta who works with Fujitsu.

Though Sengupta lives in Pune, she belongs to Kolkata and she says that one of the reasons to participate in the pageant was that she would get a chance to visit her hometown.

Talking about the level of preparation that went into the pageant, she says, “During the orientation, we were given a brief on how the pageant was going to be and it did not sound easy, even for someone who has been part of the glamour work. Over two months, we were taught how to work on our mental and physical wellness. The weight had to be kept in check. It also involved makeup and hair styling skills, body language and preparing for the Q&A round.”

She says that while interacting with the former beauty queen Liza, she understood that the crown holds a lot of responsibility. Sengupta, who has worked as a news anchor with Doordarshan, believes that beauty is a process  and one has to take care of their inner self and outer appearance. “We live in a day and age, where outer appearance is given a lot of importance. Every time you are evaluated on the basis of how you look,” she says.

Sengupta believes that while that is important, one also needs to wear confidence on their sleeves because that is one thing that has helped her sail her through all the phases of her life. “A confident and positive attitude makes the journey easy. My knowledge and personality development has also been extremely important for me,” she adds.

The HR professional says that with the knowledge that she has gained, she knows what she wants to do next in life. “I have proved myself in my profession. I want to do things, which are different and challenging,” she concludes.
