‘Pune encourages us to outdo ourselves’

Da-Bangg The Tour, which has travelled to several cities abroad, is now offering the Indian audience the entertainment extravaganza. Having recently wowed spectators in Delhi, the tour will make its presence felt in Pune now with a power-packed performance and a star-studded evening at Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Sports Complex, Mhalunge, Balewadi, on March 24. The Pune leg of the tour is being organised by Four Pillars Events, along with 18 Degrees and Nirman Group, and Sakal is the associate partner.

The event, which is being managed, directed and scripted by Sohail Khan Entertainment and JA Events, will showcase live performances by superstar Salman Khan, and Katrina Kaif, Sonakshi Sinha, Prabhudheva, Daisy Shah and Guru Randhawa. Maniesh Paul will be the event host. The security of the show will be managed by Tiger Security Services, managed by Gurmeet Singh Shera. At a press conference held in the city, Sohail announced the show and later spoke to Sakal Times giving our readers more details.

“We’ve kept the show very compact — we expect it to get over in 2 hours, 45 minutes. Everyone here (the artists) has had a very long journey — Salman bhai, Sonakshi, Katrina, Prabhudheva, and the others, hence we have taken the best out of their work and accommodated them in the duration of the show. We aim to put up a compact and entertaining performance, and Pune encourages us to outdo ourselves,” said Sohail.

The show has enthralled audiences in Hong Kong, Auckland, Melbourne, Delhi and other cities across the world. However, with each show, the concert keeps getting better. “We keep making some tweaks and inventions with every show to suit the people’s tastes in a given city. We are open to accepting suggestions from Puneites to imbibe the local flavour in the show and make it more inclusive,” he added.

When asked if he plans to take the show to smaller cities like Lucknow, Allahabad, Bhopal, etc as the fan following for the stars in those cities is massive and also the fact that they do not get to witness shows on such a massive scale, Sohail replied, “There are certain aspects that we need to keep in mind while taking a show to a particular city. The infrastructure, the magnitude of the show, the production, security and availability of resources — play a huge part in organising such a concert. But having said that, if local promoters in the city can fulfil all these requirements or we are able to source things easily there, then we would love to take the shows to smaller cities because we know these are the places where such events get a lot of appreciation, love and response due to the entertainment quotient. In bigger cities, like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata or Pune, events on such a massive scale keep happening and the audience is exposed to such shows. I think people in Mumbai, in particular, aren’t interested in our show because there’s just too much happening there. From numerous award shows to concerts, people are used to seeing celebrities on a regular basis, hence I don’t think Mumbai has any kind of interest value left anymore for such shows. Small cities have a lot of curiosity for concerts like Da-Bangg The Tour.”

Abroad too, the shows and stars too are immensely appreciated by NRIs. “Doing a show in front of them has a different feeling altogether. When we showcase the concert abroad in front of NRIs — Indians living abroad who are starving to witness something like this — they enjoy the show to the utmost. For them, Bollywood is like a culture. They tell their children, ‘Shaadi me humlog aise naachte hain’. Bollywood is a way to connect to the Indian roots,” he concluded.
