After the government announced its decision to ban 59 mobile applications with Chinese origin over security concerns during the on-going India-China tension after the Galwan Valley face-off, celebrities from the film and TV fraternity took to social media appreciating this decision. With over millions of Indian users, apps like TikTok, Shein, WeChat, UC Browser and Shareit got banned too amongst other apps.
Actress and reality show sensation Malaika Arora wrote on her Instagram story, “Finally, we will not be subjected to people’s ridiculous videos.” She also said that the government announcement was the “best news” which she got during the lockdown.
Actor Karanvir Bohra, who came into limelight after the supernatural TV show “Shararat”, wrote, “Happy with the step our government had taken....people wonder what they can do for their country? I’d say every bit counts, this is a good start.#DELETE #ChineseAppsBlocked.” He exclaimed that blocking Chinese apps is a great initiative by the government.
TV actress Nia Sharma tweeted, “Thank you for saving our country. This Virus named TikTok should never be allowed again.” Actor Kushal Tandon who has been against the use of Chinese apps such as TikTok for a long time now said, “Finally some good news.”
Ashmit Patel, who earned fame after participating in reality TV show Bigg Boss said it was the “best news” which he got and that it made his day.
Nikitin Dheer, who has been cast as an anti-hero in many films such as ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ and ‘Chennai Express’ wrote, “A start to cutting off revenue, spyware, malware etc. And m****s asking why don’t we attack China... it just shows how ignorant you are, army doesn’t need our advice on how to , if you have not read, a lot of industrial contracts have been cancelled.”
However, famous Bollywood music composer Vishal Dadlani was of a different opinion. He wrote, “Banning Apps is to China, what Taali/Diyas were to Coronavirus.”
