Eid 2020: Salman Khan's best blockbusters to revisit
'Swagat Nahi Karoge Aap Hamara?' Indeed, no!
Eid and Salman Khan's movie releases have become an obsession that fans and even critics have not missed since years.
With Eid around the corner, 2020 is an omission when Salman does not have a release planned. It has been more than ten years since we have seen Sallu Bhai's new release every Eid. In fact, from 2010 to 2019, excluding 2013, Salman Khan has always had a successful Eid treat for his fans.
But this year, the novel coronavirus crisis transformed the world! Like many other businesses, the film industry and television industry has hit hard amid the lockdown.
And while this time, due to the lockdown, Salman's upcoming flick 'Radhe' has been postponed, you can still enjoy a movie marathon of his earlier Eid releases.
This is the movie that started all the affair! Salman's career got a huge 'Kick' with Wanted as fans loved to see their handsome hunk in an action-packed film. Wanted was Directed by Prabhu Deva and was one of the huge hits of 2009.
Be honest, who doesn't love Chulbul Pandey? Admit it. We hadn't seen a cop as funny as him in any other Bollywood movie until Dabbang came along. Since its release in 2011, Salman's character gained popularity, and the makers went on to produce its third instalment that came out in 2019.
After success in Wanted and Dabbang, it was well established that Eid is reserved for Salman releases. Bodyguard was Bhai's hattrick Eid release, and it managed to do better than Dabbang in the box office. The film featured Kareena Kapoor and Hazel Keech.
Ek Tha Tiger
Till then, in almost two-and-half decades of his career, Salman never made an appearance for the Yash Raj Films banner, but Ek Tha Tiger changed that. With Kabir Khan on the director chair, Salman paired along with Katrina Kaif for this romantic-action thriller film in 2012, and it is recognised as a huge hit.
Known as one of the top producers, Sajid Nadiadwala made his directorial debut with Salman and Jacqueline Fernandes. The comedy-action tale was released on Eid in 2014, and later joined the list of Salman's many hits.
After working with Kabir Khan in Ek Tha Tiger, Salman Khan paired with him for this heart-warming story. He played Pawan Kumar Chaturvedi in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, a film that went on to win many hearts. This Eid release was the second film to garner more than Rs 300 crore office at the time (first being 3 Idiots).
Salman's mega-hit movie with Anushka Sharma created a record by becoming the highest-grossing Bollywood movie of the year until Aamir Khan's Dangal, a film with a similar theme, punched it off. Salman, alongside Anushka Sharma, was praised for playing a character of a desi-wrestler who battles with foreign wrestlers in the private league.
Salman played a slightly different character in Tubelight, which too was directed by Kabir Khan. Set in the 1962 Sino-India War, Salman played the role of a feeble young boy whose heart is broken when his brother joins the army. The movie failed to make its mark at the box-office, as this was a different genre for both Salman Khan and his fans.
Salman joined the Race bandwagon along with Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Jacqueline Fernandez. Critics bashed the thriller and the movie wasn't very successful commercially either, compared to Bhai's other Eid releases.
Bharat starring Katrina Kaif was inspired by an Ode to My Father (a South Korean film), and it took Salman's fans down the memory lane. The film showed the history of India through the eyes of a character played by Salman, who shared his name with our nation.
Though Salman's Radhe is delayed due to coronavirus this year, take a joyride of Bhai's above-mentioned movies without leaving your house. Eid Mubarak and stay safe!
