Amitabh Bachchan is among India’s most renowned actors, with an extensive career that has stretched over more than fifty years. The legendary star has performed in multiple languages and still captivates audiences with his acting. He also greets fans every week outside his Mumbai home, Jalsa. In his latest Tumblr blog post, Amitabh shared his thoughts on consciously staying driven to work in order to maintain a constant sense of movement and purpose.
What Amitabh said
Amitabh shared a quote from his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s writings, noting how quickly the days go by. He then added, “Some reflections from Babuji’s works and the days slip away; it feels like last month was just here and now the next one is already upon us, forcing us to realise how swiftly time passes. Movement is essential. Keep the body active, keep the mind active, and the power of staying in motion will become clear, suddenly, instead of just sitting idle without purpose.”
He added, “Let patience be the constant puzzle you must solve at every moment; even a single moment is a test of patience. Yet patience rewards you, and rewards you richly—not in money, but in wisdom. A serious study of patience would have been immensely valuable; in fact, studying any subject in depth would have armed you with many arrows to draw from your bow in the battles of life. The bow and arrow—तीर कमान—have always held great significance, both symbolically and practically, in our lives, inside and out. The bow and arrow were the first weapons that allowed combat from a distance; later came the cannon, and now we have missiles. The purpose remains the same: to wage war from afar. The age of hand-to-hand combat, or what we now call ‘boots on the ground,’ has become rare. Today, one can sit miles away and inflict the destructive consequences of war with a kind of detached ease. There is a story about my great-grandfather and his actions related to this, but I will share that another day. For now, I leave you with love and peace.”
Professionally, Amitabh Bachchan most recently appeared in Kalki 2898 AD. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film featured Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan in leading roles. Big B’s depiction of Ashwatthama in the sci-fi drama was widely praised, and the movie emerged as a major hit, earning over ₹1,000 crore globally. He is now filming the sequel to the movie.
