Bollywood drugs case: Mumbai NCB slaps notice to Karan Johar; Twitter goes berserk

The Mumbai office of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has sent a notice to Bollywood director-producer Karan Johar in connection with a video of a 2019 party organised by him which made buzz on social media.

The notice reads that the Karan does not need to respond in person to this notice. He can answer either via a letter or a by sending a representative with the information sought by the agency. The NCB has sought the details of the party and the device on which this video was shot. The video was also reportedly sent to forensic team.

The producer-director had hosted a party at his residence last year. Former Shiromani Akali Dal MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa had asked the drugs watchdog to examine whether drugs were consumed at this party or not. After the video went viral on social media, Karan Johar issued a public statement saying reports of drug consumption at his party were defamatory.

Bollywood A-listers like, Arjun Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Malaika Arora, Zoya Akhtar, Vicky Kaushal and Ranbir Kapoor were seen in the video. Deepika has been questioned by the NCB in the past amid her WhatsApp chats with her manager Karishma Prakash.
