Social media influencer Deeksha Gulati on Monday appealed to her followers to stop the online abuse directed at her former partner after cheating allegations made during an emotional Instagram Live snowballed into a major controversy. Gulati said she did not intend for the situation to spiral into public harassment and asked people to step back from spreading hate in her name.
The issue began last week when Gulati went live on Instagram late at night, visibly upset, and accused fellow content creator Udit Rajput of cheating on her. Short clips from the session spread rapidly across platforms, drawing strong reactions and leading to a wave of angry comments and messages aimed at Rajput. Within hours, the matter became a talking point across influencer circles.
In a follow up post shared on her Instagram Stories, Gulati said the live session was driven by emotional distress and poor judgement. “I request everyone to stop,” she wrote, adding that she does not support hate, threats or character attacks against anyone. She asked her followers to disengage from content that fuels negativity and said social media should not become a tool to punish people.
Gulati also clarified that private matters should not be decided by public opinion and admitted that going live was not the right way to deal with a personal issue. She stressed that while she is dealing with her own pain, she does not want another person to suffer because of online anger. Rajput has not issued a public statement so far and has remained silent since the controversy erupted.
The episode has divided opinion online. While some users backed Gulati for speaking out and later calling for calm, others questioned the decision to air personal grievances publicly. Several creators have weighed in, urging influencers to handle personal conflicts offline and warning about the mental health impact of digital pile ons.
Gulati, who has a large youth following for her lifestyle and dance content, has largely stayed off social media since the clarification. The incident has once again highlighted how quickly personal moments can turn into public trials in the influencer economy. For now, her message is clear. She wants the noise to stop and space to move on quietly.
