Renowned Bollywood actor Dharmendra died on November 24, 2025, following a prolonged struggle with health problems. Family members, including Hema Malini and Esha Deol, were seen making their way to the crematorium on Monday. The 89-year-old actor had been frequently admitted to and discharged from Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai over several days. Tributes for the 'He-Man of Bollywood' came from Bollywood figures, politicians and sports personalities. His funeral was held at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle.
Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan mourned the passing of the legendary actor Dharmendra, recalling him as a "father figure" and an influential mentor in the film industry.
Taking to X, Mr. Khan wrote, “Rest in Peace Dharam ji. You were nothing short of a father figure to me... thank u for showering me with blessings and love the way you did. An inconsolable and irreplaceable loss to not just his family, but to cinema and film lovers world over. You are immortal... and your soul will live through your films and your beautiful family forever. Love you always.”
In an emotional entry on his personal blog, Bachchan honored Dharmendra, describing him as "a brave Giant" whose absence has created an irreplaceable void. He remarked, "Yet another brave Giant has left us, leaving behind a silence that resonates with an unbearable sound."
Reflecting on the traits that endeared Dharmendra to many both in his professional and personal life, Bachchan noted, "Dharam ji was the embodiment of greatness, admired not only for his famous physical stature but also for the vastness of his heart and its most charming simplicity."
Condoling the demise of actor Dharmendra, Kamal Haasan took to Twitter to write: “Dharam Ji’s charm, humility and strength of spirit were as real off-screen as on it. Indian cinema has lost one of its kindest icons. My heartfelt condolences to his family and admirers.”
Priyanka Chopra Jonas paid tribute to late actor Dharmendra on social media, calling his passing “a big loss for cinema.” She recalled her Bollywood debut in The Hero: Love Story of a Spy with his son Sunny Deol and praised the Deol family for welcoming her as a newcomer.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah condoled the demise of actor Dharmendra, saying: “The passing of Dharmendra ji, who touched the heart of every citizen of the country for six decades with his brilliant acting, is an irreparable loss to the Indian film industry.”
