The Oscars have concluded for this year, marking the end of the awards season with 'One Battle After Anothe/r' securing the top honors—Best Picture and Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson. Fans are aware that PTA has been deserving of an Oscar for some time, as he received his first tonight after being nominated for his earlier films. However, he pales in comparison to the woman with 17 nominations and no wins—a record she keeps extending with each new nomination. That woman is American songwriter Diane Warren.

Diane Warren promises to return!

Diane received her inaugural Oscar nomination in 1987 for the song 'Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now' from the film Mannequin. This year, she earned a nomination for 'Dear Me,' sung by Kesha, which is part of the documentary 'Diane Warren: Relentless.' However, she was defeated by Ejae, 24, Ido, and Teddy Park for their track 'Golden' from 'KPop Demon Hunters.' This marked Diane Warren's ninth consecutive nomination in the Best Original Song category and her 17th overall.

Diane remains optimistic, as she shared on her Facebook, 'At least I'm consistent! I set a new record tonight! But you know me, I'll return if you'll have me!' Although she hasn't won a competitive Oscar, she received an honorary Academy Award at the Governors Awards in 2022.

Additional information

Previously, she mentioned to the Times, "It's not about validation. It would simply be enjoyable. And now, I suppose I'm just surpassing my own achievements. Currently, I'm on par with my friend Greg Russell; we've both been defeated 16 times. However, I've never viewed awards as validation. The work itself is the validation. When people appreciate the songs, that's the real validation. Who doesn't want to win, right? But you can't base your life on that because it's beyond your control. What I can control is doing the best work possible."

Remarkably, Glenn Close has received 8 Oscar nominations but has yet to win. Similarly, actor Amy Adams has been nominated 6 times at the Oscars without securing a win. Bradley Cooper has accumulated 12 nominations in various categories, yet he has not won any.

Throughout her career, Diane Warren has crafted nine songs that reached number one and 33 that made it to the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, providing major hits for artists such as Cher, Celine Dion, and Aerosmith.
