One of the most awaited awards of the year, Filmfare Awards 2021 announced the nominations on Friday. Even though the year 2020 proved to be very challenging for the entertainment industry, the filmmakers and actors geared up to look for various platforms to entertain their fans. Quality content was served to the audience through OTT platforms.
The year was a rollercoaster for the industry. However, once the lockdown was lifted they bounced right back! Even with members of the B-Town testing COVID-19 positive, the discouragment did not reflect on the quality of work produced by the fraternity.
The Filmfare Awards are divided into three broad sections - Popular, Critics’ Choice, and Technical. The black comedy Ludo and the hard-hitting drama Thappad are leading the nomination list with eighteen and seventeen mentions, respectively, including in Best Actor and Actress. The list also includes late actors Sushant Singh Rajput for Dil Bechara and Irrfan Khan for Angrezi Medium.
Pankaj Tripathi, widely famous for his role in Amazom Prime web series Mirzapur, has bagged two nominations in the same category - Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male). He got nominated for his role in Ludo and Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl.
In music, Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal has received nominations in four categories - Best Music Album, Best Lyrics, Best Playback Singer, both male and female.
