The Bandra Family Court in Mumbai has approved the divorce of actress Hansika Motwani and her businessman spouse Sohael Khaturiya. Motwani filed for divorce with mutual consent and reportedly decided not to pursue any claims for streedhan or alimony.
In the court proceedings, Motwani was defended by lawyer Adnan Shaikh, who stated that the couple lived together briefly after their marriage. However, they soon discovered substantial differences in their personalities, views, and ways of living, resulting in frequent conflicts. The plea indicates that the couple frequently quarreled over trivial matters, which made cohabitation increasingly challenging. Consequently, they ultimately chose to separate.
The plea also mentioned that the couple's parents, relatives, and friends tried multiple times to reconcile them and urged them to remain together. Despite these efforts, they were unable to salvage the marriage. Ultimately, the petitioners decided together to part ways and dissolve their marriage. They have been living separately since July 2, 2024.
Despite reports of their relationship becoming contentious, Motwani and Khaturiya eventually engaged in talks and opted for a mutual divorce. Both individuals submitted their affidavits, with neither party making any claims or demands against the other.
Motwani and Khaturiya tied the knot in a customary Hindu wedding on December 4, 2022, at Mandota Fort in Jaipur. The marriage did not result in any children. Motwani, who began her career as a child actor on the TV show Shaka Laka Boom Boom and in the film Koi... Mil Gaya, eventually rose to fame as a prominent actor in South Indian cinema.
