Hollywood star Armie Hammer accused of rape, ‘Thought he was going to kill me’, says woman
Armie Hammer started his career with 2010’s The Social Network and is best known for his roles in 2017’s Call Me By Your Name and 2013’s The Lone Ranger.
A 24-year-old woman on Thursday accused Hollywood actor Armie Hammer of raping her four years ago in Los Angeles.
The woman spoke about the alleged sexual assault during a press conference, saying that the actor “committed other acts of violence against me, to which I did not consent.”
Accuser woman, who identified as herself as Effie, claimed that Hammer “abused me mentally, emotionally, sexually,” pointing to an alleged incident in Los Angeles in 2017 where she alleged, “Armie Hammer violently raped me for over four hours,” adding that “I tried to get away and he wouldn’t let me. I thought that he was going to kill me.”
After the alleged rape, she said she had suffered traumatic flashbacks and had felt suicidal. She said she felt guilty about not speaking out sooner and hoped Hammer would “be held accountable.”
The allegations come after several women accused the 34-year-old actor of emotional and physical abuse and shared alleged screenshots of messages from the actor detailing graphic fantasies ranging from cannibalism to rape.
Effie’s attorney, Gloria Allred, has said that they have provided the police with evidence. A Los Angeles police department has said that they are investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, Archie Hammer, through his lawyer, has refuted the allegations and claimed that the latest allegations are “attention-seeking and ill-advised”.
“From day one, Mr. Hammer has maintained that all of his interactions with (Effie) — and every other sexual partner of his for that matter — have been completely consensual, discussed and agreed upon in advance, and mutually participatory,” Hamme’s lawyer Andrew Brettler said in a statement.
Brettle said that the accuser woman has just recently in 2020 sent a graphic text message to Hammer detailing her sexual desires.
Hammer was married to television personality Elizabeth Chambers and they divorced last year. He started his career with 2010’s The Social Network and is best known for his roles in 2017’s Call Me By Your Name and 2013’s The Lone Ranger.
