Palash Muchhal, a music composer and filmmaker, has responded to accusations of financial fraud following a complaint regarding a purported ₹40 lakh investment issue in Maharashtra's Sangli district. Muchhal addressed the allegations on social media, labeling them as "baseless and factually incorrect," and accused his detractors of having malicious motives, pledging to take legal action.
This week, a dispute arose when Vidnyan Mane, a 34-year-old actor and producer, contacted the Sangli Superintendent of Police to file an FIR against Muchhal. The complaint asserts that Muchhal persuaded Mane to invest in a forthcoming film called Nazariya, assuring him of profits and a part in the project. Mane stated that he paid a total of ₹40 lakh following meetings that started in December 2023, but the film was never finished, and the money was not refunded.
Law enforcement authorities have stated that an initial inquiry is underway, even though a formal First Information Report (FIR) had not been filed at the time of the report. According to sources, the complaint contains transaction information and claims that multiple efforts to retrieve the money were ignored, leading the complainant to pursue official intervention.
In an Instagram statement addressing the allegations, Muchhal labeled the claims as 'groundless and inaccurate,' asserting they were intended to damage his reputation. He mentioned that his legal team, headed by advocate Shreyansh Mithare, is exploring all possible actions and the issue will be handled through appropriate legal means. Muchhal's post highlighted that the accusations were unfounded and he would make sure they are contested.
The accusation of fraud follows closely after another highly publicized event in Muchhal's personal life the cancellation of his wedding to Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana in late 2025 due to her father's hospitalization. The breakup attracted considerable media coverage, and the latest controversy has maintained Muchhal's presence in the public eye as he continues working on his upcoming film project.
Muchhal's representatives have stated that further updates will be given only after legal proceedings are officially started. The police have not yet confirmed the filing of an FIR, and it is believed that the investigation is still in its initial phase. Analysts suggest that the case might depend on documentary evidence and reactions from both parties as the investigation progresses.
