
Pankaj Dheer, the actor famous for portraying Karna in Mahabharat, passed away on September 15 at the age of 68 after a prolonged fight with cancer. Firoz Khan, who portrayed Arjun in the same series, announced the news on social media. His son, Nikitin Dheer, has not yet expressed his condolences online.
Pankaj Dheer had been in poor health for an extended period. His struggle with cancer returned a few months ago, leading to a significant surgery. Unfortunately, he passed away due to the illness.
Firoz Khan shared a picture with Pankaj on his Instagram Story. Expressing his condolences, the actor wrote, 'Gentleman!!! Goodbye, Will miss you PD. Stay blessed.'
In addition to his acting career, Dheer was a creative entrepreneur. In 2006, he and his brother Satluj Dheer established Visage Studioz, a shooting studio located in Jogeshwari, Mumbai. A few years later, in 2010, he founded the Abbhinnay Acting Academy, with his Mahabharat co-star Gufi Paintal serving as the head of faculty, to guide aspiring actors.
Dheer is survived by his wife, Anita Dheer, and his son, actor Nikitin Dheer, who has made a name for himself in Bollywood with roles in films like Chennai Express and Shershaah. Nikitin is married to a television actress Kratika Sengar.
On October 15, CINTAA (Cine & TV Artistes’ Association) issued an official statement confirming the death of Pankaj Dheer. The statement expressed deep sadness, announcing the passing of their former Chairman and CINTAA's past Hon. General Secretary, Shri Pankaj Dheer ji, on October 15, 2025. The cremation is scheduled for today at 4:30 pm, near Pawan Hans, Vile Parle (W), Mumbai.
