Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer has strongly bolstered his credentials in the ongoing IPL as he aims to end Punjab Kings’ long title drought, which continued after their narrow loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2025 final. His intent this season is evident, with the franchise remaining unbeaten in their first six games and achieving their best start in IPL history, though the ultimate goal still lies ahead. Punjab Kings’ co-owner and actor Preity Zinta has been full of praise for him.
What Preity Zinta said about Shreyas Iyer
On Monday, Preity hosted an impromptu session on her X account. When a fan asked about her experience working with Shreyas, she replied, “He is an inspiring and strategic leader who leads by example—intelligent, calm, inclusive, and approachable to the entire team. On a lighter note, he is also wonderful with children, which is why my kids affectionately call him Shreyas Bhaiya and adore him (red heart emoticon).”
A fan highlighted a viral tweet claiming that Punjab Kings have not won the IPL trophy yet because Preity Zinta herself is the trophy. The actor disagreed with this idea and responded, “Thank you, that’s very sweet, but to be honest, no woman wants to be a trophy. Trophies are owned; women are not. Trophies are kept in glass cabinets, while a woman’s place is in your life and in your heart. A filmy answer for a filmy question. Ting!”
Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer outlined his approach for this IPL season a few days ago. “Whenever I take part in any tournament, I play with the sole aim of winning. For me, victory is everything; there is no alternative. Even if it doesn’t work out, I am fine with that—I can accept it and move on. But whatever I do, all my efforts are directed toward the trophy. I play to win. For every tournament and opportunity that comes my way, I will definitely aim to win. This year, my clear intention is to win the IPL. I just want to put it out into the universe that I want to lift the trophy. There will be small steps along the way to reach that point. It will undoubtedly require a collective effort, and everyone has to think along the same lines; only then can we achieve it,” Iyer said while speaking on JioStar’s ‘Believe’.
Professionally, Preity Zinta is gearing up to return to the big screen after her last film, Bhaiaji Superhit (2018). She will appear as the female lead in Lahore 1947, starring alongside Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, and Abhimanyu Singh.
