The actor mentioned that he is exercising great care with his language since the legal process is still in progress. Addressing the financial support from the industry, the actor commented, “The media first covered this issue in 2012, with headlines claiming ‘Rajpal Yadav is a fraud’. Since then, I have been involved in at least ten films each year. If I were truly a fraud, why would people continue to work with me? The industry doesn't need to prove their support; I believe everyone is on my side.”

When questioned about the financial support he allegedly received from fellow industry members, Rajpal declined to disclose their names or the sums involved, stating, "I appreciate all the assistance I've received, but I do not seek sympathy."

Concerning the financial debt situation of Rajpal Yadav

The actor was imprisoned due to a ten-year-old case involving the non-repayment of a ₹9 crore loan. In 2010, Rajpal took a loan of ₹5 crore from Murali Pvt Ltd, a company based in Delhi, for his film Ata Pata Laapata. When the movie did not succeed commercially, he could not repay the loan. As a result, seven cheques he issued bounced, prompting legal proceedings.

In 2018, a magistrate's court found Rajpal and his wife, Radha, guilty under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, sentencing him to six months of simple imprisonment. By 2024, the court suspended his sentence and instructed him to make 'sincere and genuine efforts' to settle the outstanding dues, which had increased to ₹9 crore.

On February 2, 2026, the Delhi High Court instructed Rajpal to surrender after he informed the court of his inability to settle the debt. He subsequently obeyed and was imprisoned in Tihar Jail.

While serving his prison sentence, Sonu Sood openly provided financial help and also enlisted Rajpal for a future project with a nominal fee, encouraging others in the industry to offer their support. Subsequently, Rajpal's manager disclosed that Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Varun Dhawan, and others had stepped up to assist him. The actor has now received interim bail until March 18.
