
October 8, Mohali, 2025: Rajvir Jawanda, an actor and singer, died on Wednesday after an 11-day battle for survival on a ventilator, casting a shadow of grief over the Punjabi music industry. He was 35 years old.
On September 27, Jawanda was in a deadly car crash near Baddi in Himachal Pradesh, resulting in serious brain and spinal injuries. Reports indicate that the singer was on a motorcycle heading towards Shimla when he lost control near the Solan district, leading to a devastating accident.
After the accident, Rajvir is said to have experienced a heart attack and was initially admitted to a nearby hospital in Solan. He was later moved to Fortis Hospital in Mohali, where expert teams in critical care and neurosurgery worked to stabilize his condition.
Rajvir's situation stayed critical despite continuous attempts. Medical reports indicated minimal to no brain activity, and his neurological state showed little improvement in the following days.

The accident and Rajvir's worsening health have led to a flood of prayers and heartfelt tributes from fans and colleagues in the Punjabi entertainment sector. Well-known figures such as Diljit Dosanjh, Neeru Bajwa, Ammy Virk, Gippy Grewal, and Kanwar Grewal expressed their support and prayers on social media.
At a recent concert in Hong Kong, Diljit Dosanjh paused his performance to offer a moment of collective prayer, saying: “Dua mei asar hai” expressing hope in the power of prayer and solidarity.
