Pune: Subhodh Bhave and Chinmay Mandlekar are well-known names in the Marathi as well as Hindi television and film industry. Both are good friends, but their friendship began when Chinmay was trying to put a foot in the industry while Subhodh was a known name by the time.

The seeds of their friendship were sown when both started acting in the famous Marathi serial ‘Vadalvat’, way back two decades. Chinmay received the call from the production house for a role in the serial.

“I vividly remember that it was Ganesh Chaturthi (September 3) when I received the call for the role. I was happy. But it took seven months (March) to actually start the shooting for the serial. And it was all because of Subhodh Bhave”, Chinmay said in a lighter tone.

“I had reservations in acting in serials, but when I came to Mumbai I realised that TV serials are also the part of the profession and we must work in it”, Chinmay said.

Actually, Subhodh was working on four other serials and thus could not lend the dates for the shooting of this serial. Meanwhile, Chinmay instead of getting upset started writing a play “Joker” and finished it too. He showed the script to Vadalvat serial writer Abhay Paranjpe and continued his streak with writing.
