Fashion designer Sharbari Dutta found dead at home

Kolkata: On Thursday, Sharbari Dutta, a prominent fashion designer from Kolkata was found dead at her house. The designer was found lying unconscious in the bathroom of her Karaya home. Her family members reported that she was 63 years of age.

The daughter of Bengali poet Ajit Dutta forecasted her talent in fashion designing after passing from college. She marked her prowess in designing men's ethnic wear. She became a brand name for her unique taste of blending ethnicity with modernity in fabric and vibrancy in colour, changing the notion that men don't have many sartorial choices.

Sharbari Dutta later set up her brand named Shunyaa, with its outlets in Kolkata. She took her interest in designing women's wear. She was a known face in fashion shows organised in the city. Her designs were worn by Vidya Balan and many other actors.

Singers Parama Banerjee and Ujjaini Mukherjee, actors like Srabonty Chatterjee, Rukmini Maitra, and theatre director Debesh Chatterjee expressed their grief on the death of the designer.
