Indian-Style Masala Pasta Recipe
Ingredients (Serves 2–3)
Pasta Base:
2 cups pasta (penne, fusilli, or macaroni work best)
Salt, to taste
Water, for boiling
Masala Sauce:
1 tablespoon oil or butter
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 chopped onion
1 chopped capsicum (red/green/yellow)
1 chopped tomato
1 tablespoon tomato ketchup or purée
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
½ teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 teaspoon pav bhaji masala (optional but flavour-packed!)
Salt to taste
2–3 tablespoons water (to loosen the masala)
Garnish:
Fresh coriander
Grated cheese (optional)
Chilli flakes or oregano (for the fusion feel)
Method
1. Boil the Pasta
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.
Add your pasta and cook until al dente (firm but cooked).
Drain, rinse with cold water, and set aside with a drizzle of oil to prevent sticking.
2. Prepare the Masala Base
Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.
Sauté onions until golden, then add chopped capsicum and cook until slightly soft.
Add chopped tomatoes and let them soften for 3–4 minutes.
Mix in all the spices: red chilli, turmeric, garam masala, pav bhaji masala, and salt.
Add tomato ketchup or purée for tang and a hint of sweetness. Splash in some water if needed.
Cook the masala until oil starts to separate and the mixture becomes thick and saucy.
3. Mix It All Together
Toss in the boiled pasta and mix well so that every piece is coated with spicy, tangy masala.
Cook on low heat for 2–3 minutes to let the flavours soak in.
4. Garnish and Serve
Top with freshly chopped coriander and grated cheese if you like a cheesy twist.
Sprinkle some oregano or chilli flakes for that café-style finish.
Pro Tips
Add paneer or tofu for protein.
Try a tadka twist with mustard seeds and curry leaves for a South Indian vibe.
Swap pasta for boiled noodles if you're out of penne or macaroni.
This Italian pasta with an Indian twist is more than just a recipe—it’s a celebration of how fusion food can bring the best of both worlds onto one spicy, saucy fork. Whether you're a beginner or a home chef experimenting with flavours, this easy dish will always win hearts (and appetites).
