Coronavirus Mumbai: 1,359 new cases, the total soars to 61,501

Mumbai: Maharashtra is the worst-hit state in the country with its capital city - Mumbai, recording high numbers of COVID-19 positive patients. As of Wednesday, the financial capital recorded 1,359 new coronavirus positive cases taking the total number to 61,501.

In the last 24 hours, 77 deaths were reported due to the virus taking the final toll to 3,242. On the brighter side, the number of recovered patients has been reported to have increased by 298.

Of the 77 deaths reported in Mumbai on Wednesday, 53 were due to chronic illness. The dead included 59 men and 18 women. Seven of the patients were under 40 years of age, 27 were between 40 to 60 years of age and 43 were over 60 years of age.  

So far, a  total of 43,731 COVID-19 positive patients have been treated for the virus, and a total of 31,338 have been recovered. 

As per data, around 2,69,608 people have been tested for COVID-19 and the doubling ratio currently stands at 2.43 per cent between June 10 to 16. 

The number of home inspections stands at around 21,64,506, and 3,68,791 senior citizens have been checked. Around 834 actives and 5205 buildings have been sealed in containment zones.
